The U.S. Mission was one of the major sponsors of the 2018 Ake Arts and Book Festival, an annual event which showcases the best of contemporary African literature, poetry, music, art, film, and theatre.

REVEALED: I was tortured severely by SARS

Alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a. Evans, on Friday narrated how he was allegedly tortured by members of I-G’s Intelligence Response Team and the then Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). Evans said at the continuation of a trial-within-trial at an Ikeja High Court where he is facing trial alongside six others on a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that before Evans’ testimony, a five-minute, 33-second video recording was played in the courtroom.

Ascertain fertility status before marriage, expert urges intending couples

 An Abuja-based Naturopath and fertility expert, Dr Kingsley Onuzuleke,  on Friday, advised intending couples to ascertain their fertility status before marriage. Onuzuleke gave the advice in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja. He defined naturopathy or naturopathic medicine as a form of alternative medicine that employs an array of pseudo-scientific practices branded as “natural”, “non-invasive”, and as promoting “self-healing”. The ideology and methods of naturopathy are based on vitalism and folk medicine, rather than evidence-based medicine

Mrs. Caroline Nwanyioye Okpalakunne, (Nne Onyemelukwe) is dead. She died on 1st August, 2018 at the age of 87 after a brief illness.She has since been buried on October 19, 2019 at her home Town, Umudim, Umueze, Uga, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state. According to a release signed by the eldest son, Mr. Appolos Okpala, there was a Christian wake keep at her compound on Thursday, October, 18, 2018 by 6.pm.
